MobileTechRoundup 30

You voted for it and he bought it: Kevin has the XV6700! We discuss the new Windows Mobile 5.0 phone, some freeware and have a “special guest” on the show: Microsoft Voice Command!

CLICK HERE to download the file and listen directly.
MoTR 30 is 34:18 minutes long and is a 23.5 MB file in MP3 format.

INTRO: Based on “Time v2.1″ by Meta Sektion, additional mixing by James Kendrick.

HOSTS: David Ciccone, James Kendrick and Kevin C. Tofel

Thanks for picking the XV6700 for Kevin!
We give a rundown on the specs and first impressions.
Listener e-mail: Skype 2.0 question from Ralf. Can you do Skype with video on the Windows Mobile client?
Kevin didn’t realize that EV-DO is an optional feature, so there’s no contract or commitment to add (or remove) Broadband Access as long as you keep your voice plan.
Ever wonder what Microsoft Voice Command sounds like or does? We demo it live on the podcast! Hm, is this the first podcast “guest-starring” Voice Command?
Freeware of the Day: Opera for Windows Mobile Beta 2 (thanks to JNGold for the tip!)
Why are Kevin’s CAB files not auto-deleting upon execution on the XV6700? They aren’t read-only files, so what’s up?
Listener e-mail from Barry: listening to MobileTechRoundup saved tons of time at his company. Glad we could help!
You have to listen to Kevin’s favorite XV6700 feature. No hints in the show notes, sorry!

  1. Guys,

You both must have some strange devices. I don’t know of any WM5, non-verizon phone devices that have the .cab issue. Strange. I’ll poll some other K-JAM users…

    Stay tuned.
